Then there is Matthias the only one that doesn’t willingly want to do anything Kaz asks him to, yet he has to (not that the other guys are willing, but they are more willing than Matthias.) He is the only person they can “trust” to get them inside the most secure prison in their world, but to get him to do it was a hard task and he might or might not be thinking of betraying them.Īnd lastly we have Wyland the mysterious addition to the team. She is also great with languages and is okay at healing minor injuries, so she is sort of Kaz’s healer by default. Then we have Nina, a Heartrender Grisha, she has magical powers that can kill a man within minutes if not seconds. We also have Jesper, the sharp shooter, he is the best with guns and he never really misses a shot, and he is also kind of Kaz’s best friend. Then we have Inej, she is Kaz’s right hand (he doesn’t want to admit it, but she is) and she is the retriever and keeper of secrets. He is the leader and he is the mastermind behind everything. We have Kaz who is just conniving and cruel, or so it seems. I don’t even know where to begin, this story is about criminals, yes the “bad guys,” yet there is something about these bad guys you can’t help but love and sympathize with. Kaz’s crew is the only thing that might stand between the world and destruction-if they don’t kill each other first. If by now you have not figured it out, I did in fact freaking fell in love with the books and finally got the hype so now I’m here about to tell you all about them.

I do have to admit that my fascination with Bardugo’s work started when Netflix announced they would be adapting the Grishaverse and I wanted to know what the hype was really about. It didn’t sound like something I could get into, the whole quest and description of the characters just didn’t appeal to me.įast forward to this year though, and picture me intrigued and in love.
